What does private training look like?

  • Getting to Know You and Your Dog

Every dog is an individual — with their own unique personality, background, and needs. Some of these needs are shaped by breed traits, while others are specific to your dog’s life experiences and environment.

To make sure we get the most out of our time together, you’ll be asked to fill out a short form before our first session. This gives me valuable insight into your dog, your lifestyle, any challenges you're facing, and what you hope to achieve through training.

Our first session will focus on gathering even more detailed information. This helps me create a training plan that’s tailored specifically to you and your dog. We’ll also talk through immediate management strategies and introduce some foundational skills to help you get started on the right foot.

  • Real Change Takes Time

Every dog — and every situation — is different. While some issues can be addressed relatively quickly, many require time, consistency, and patience. Because of this, I don’t offer quick fixes or one-off private sessions for behavioural concerns.

Behaviour modification is about helping your dog replace problem behaviours with ones that are more manageable and appropriate. This process involves developing new habits, building skills, and creating lasting change — which doesn’t happen overnight.

Quick fixes might seem effective at first glance, but they often rely on punishment, pain, or intimidation to suppress behaviour. While this may stop the behaviour in the moment, it doesn’t address the underlying cause — and can lead to increased fear, stress, or aggression down the line.

My approach is different. I use science-based, positive methods to create real, long-term change while protecting your dog’s emotional well-being. The goal is not just a well-behaved dog, but a happy, confident one too..
